Dogs Available for Adoption
Randy - in memoriam
BUSTER
Buster's time had totally run out -- luckily a group of volunteers
at Town Lake Animal Center had fallen in love with him and
worked hard to get him out. He's with us in foster care now and
he's thriving! Buster is a well-built American Bull Dog mix. If
there was a doggie football team he would be playing
quarterback! He's always ready to go do
something and will need an owner that is familiar with active
dogs. Buster needs a person who will work carefully and
diligently with him, and continue to provide structure and set
rules and boundaries. He's strong and strong-willed, but very
sweet and smart. He wants to please and learns quickly. He's
currently entering his third month of obedience boot camp (a
$3,000 training value) and his trainer says he doing well with
both on-leash and off-leash obedience commands. Buster is
current on all of his vaccinations, heartworm negative, crate
trained, micro-chipped, and neutered.
Petey
IN MEMORY OF RANDY WHO WE LOST DURING HIS HEARTWORM TREATMENT.
PLEASE KEEP YOUR DOGS UP-TO-DATE ON HEARTWORM PREVENTION, IT IS A
HORRIBLE PARASITE AND IT WILL KILL THEM.
ROSEY
MEET PETEY! PETEY IS ADOPTED!!
This is how his foster mom describes him, "Petey is a 1.5 year old
Pit Bull mix. We found him wandering the streets in our neighborhood.
He is neutered and heart worm negative. He is loving, sweet and calm.
Actually, rather lazy and ADORABLE! He loves to cuddle on the couch
with us at night when we watch TV. We'd love to keep him but we
already have 5 other dogs and a cat. It'll be hard to see him go, but we
know he needs to find a forever home."
Petey is a referral dog, please contact his foster directly at:
madeleon1@yahoo.com
Rosey says, "By the way, I
think kids are great!" And
look at that lovely profile
below.
Rosey had a bad break -- literally! Not just a car slamming into
her, but landing at a shelter that wasn't able to take care of
her badly broken leg.
Luckily one of the vet techs at the shelter knew that this girl
was too good to be put down, so she asked us to help. We
can't always do it, but in this case, we met her and our hearts
melted! She is wonderful. So sweet - and even in so much
pain all she did was ask for a belly rub and gave us a kiss.
Now (see the picture for the scar), she is on the road to
recovery! She has pins in her front left leg, but it will heal well
(oh, and why not spay her while she's under -- wow, what a
day of surgery). But still so cheery and fabulous.
She's young, very friendly, has a smile that is dreamy - and,
well, there you have it! HW negative, on preventative, utd on
shots, and just ready for you.
KATIE
This sweet mixed breed girl needs a home - and
soon. She living outside primarily, but loves
people. So she needs to be in a home where she
will really matter. She's young (about 3), spayed,
HW negative and on preventative, utd on vaccs.
When the person who has her now called us, she
had none of that, but now she's been to the vet
and is healthy, happy, spayed, ready to go to a
home that loves her! We can't really tell the mix,
but think she has some red heeler, some lab,
maybe some chow (though I don't see it), who
knows! She's lovely. Katie is a referral dog, but
contact the site coordinator at
txcodigirl@gmail.com for more info.
THUNDER
Mr. Thunder Down Under is one of the sweetest
big goober dogs you'll ever meet. He really just
wants to be a lap dog - forgetting that he's a little
on the large side of medium! Thunder has some
rottie and some lab in him probably - along with
other lovely mixes. He seems to love all the
people he meets. This boy is just two years old or
so - and very, very calm. He's still at the animal
shelter, we're trying to find him a foster home and
his time is running short. UPDATE: We found a
great home for Thunder but, alas, his luck
continued to be a bit bad. We found out he
needs major hip surgery. But the good news!!
He raised $450 for his surgery at the Red
Poppy Festival. This 18 month old baby boy
will be fine - now he just needs someone to
step forward to love him forever. GAO
commits to covering his hip expenses.
BUDDY -- adoption pending!!
UPDATE ON BUDDY Buddy is so very different - what a tremendous positive change in the
dog in just 45 days with us. We're now convinced that he's a labpei or sharprador - well,
whatever a labrador shar pei mix would be!
He now picks out his toys and brings it to me to play with him. The 'tethering' helped him in
learning to stay by my side. He is just absolutely charming, friendly, bundle of energy and he
loves 'kisses' and being petted. Here's his sad story: My Mom (the current foster) was walking
her dog one Friday night and heard a loud 'yelp'. She ran to its source and saw one of her
neighbors violently kick this puppy. (Whose only crime was to try and follow him down the
sidewalk). The puppy was skittish of her, but came when she called. He is super smart, but
not trained. However he learned sit and fetch over the weekend. My Mom cannot have
another dog, but the thought of taking him to a shelter just makes her sick. Can anyone help?
Looks like Lab/Staffie mix, now 9-10 months old. BUDDY IS A REFERRAL DOG - PLEASE
CONTACT THE FOSTER DIRECTLY. HE IS NEUTERED AND VACCINATED, ON
HEARTWORM PREVENTATIVE AND CRATE-TRAINED. HE IS READY TO GO TO A
FOREVER HOME! FOR MORE INFORMATION CONTACT: eliza_walls@hotmail.com
Cattledog Pups! ALL THREE PUPS ADOPTED!

likely) just outside of Georgetown. They are in a foster home now and heading to the vet to
make sure all is well. They will be neutered/spayed early next week. The two pictured
together are females; the one pictured alone is a male. We think they are about three months
old. These lovely babies need good, permanent homes. For an adoption application go to:
www.georgetowndogrescue.com We hope to have them out at the Petsmart in Georgetown
for the big adopt-a-thon this Saturday, May 3.
